The Cutlery Festival in Seki City of Gifu is emblematic of the city’s blade-production culture, and brings out an incredible number of guests from all over Japan every year.
The marketplace that is opened along the main road consists of roughly 50 different producers who set up shop in tents and sell a variety of items, including kitchen knives, scissors, pocket knives and other blades, all at great discount straight from the producers.
Watch the sparks fly during a traditional Japanese sword forging demonstration, take a look and see what you can find at the outdoor knife show, or catch some masters practicing their sword skills at some of the many events being held around town during the festival.
