See the purple beauty of this ancient wisteria

The wisteria of Takehana Betsuin Temple is a sight to behold from mid-April when it blooms with magnificent purple flowers. The ancient tree is said to be over 300 years old and is officially designated as a Natural Monument by Gifu Prefecture.

A trellis is used to support the wisteria vines creating a wonderful wisteria trellis that visitors can walk under, stretching 33m east to west and 15m north to south.

During the wisteria’s main blossoming period, visitors can enjoy various stalls and events that are held as part of the Mino Takehana Wisteria Festival.
