The Northern Japan Alps, also known as the Hida Mountains, extend over a vast area: 150 kilometers north to south and 25 kilometers east to west. Most of the area has been designated as the Chūbu-Sangaku National Park.
In all of Japan there are only 21 mountains over 3,000 meters high, and among these, ten are located in the Northern Japan Alps. With countless paths, scenery, and vistas to explore, there's an outstanding interest in the area by both Japanese and international climbers.
