A tradition of expressing gratitude...300 meters in the air.

On the first Saturday of August, fireworks light the Ibi River with many colors. At the Ibi River Festival, spectators can witness a beautiful display dubbed “Arigato Pyrotechnics”. Attached to the missiles are thousands of thank-you messages, written by local children. After a great flood in 1896, residents first launched fireworks, hoping the tragedy would not happen again.

The riverbank is a great place for residents and out-of-towners to come and enjoy this spectacle. There will be quite a few food stalls lined up, so one can enjoy festival food as well. Witness the magic as thousands of fireworks are thrown 300m (~1000ft) in the air, bursting into beautiful colors. It’s an event you won’t want to miss.
