A tradition of expressing gratitude...300 meters in the air.

On the first Saturday of August, the Ibi River is lit brightly with many colors. At the Ibi River Festival, spectators can witness a beautiful display dubbed “Arigato Fireworks”. Attached to the missiles are thousands of thank-you messages, written by local children. After a great flood in 1896, residents first launched fireworks, hoping the tragedy would not happen again.

The riverbank is a great place for residents and out-of-towners to come and enjoy this spectacle. There will be quite a few food stalls lined up, so one can enjoy festival food as well. Witness the magic as thousands of fireworks are thrown 300m (~1000ft) in the air, bursting into beautiful colors. It’s an event you won’t want to miss.
