Fukuda Knife Industry, an industrial blade manufacturer based in Seki City, is known for creating the world’s first kitchen knife made from tungsten carbide alloy. Their original brand, KISEKI:, developed over two years, offers a fourth category of kitchen knife material, distinct from the conventional steel, stainless steel, or ceramic commonly used in knife production. These signature knives have become extraordinarily popular in Japan, with a waiting period of approximately a year.
Factory tours are available, allowing visitors to see the latest innovations in knife manufacturing close up. During the tour, you can handle the knives, try cutting food, and even practice sharpening them. An optional workshop, where you make a pocketknife using the same material as their kitchen knives, is also very popular.
