Amidaga Falls is a 60-meter-tall waterfall that’s sure to impress anyone who comes to visit it – one can walk right up to the pool of water at its base for an exhilarating up-close view!
The waterfall is located in Shirotori, northern Gujo, and is designated as one of Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls and Gifu’s 50 Most Famous Waters. The origin of Amidaga Fall’s name is said to have come from the Muromachi period (1336~1573) when Amida Nyorai, the Buddha of Limitless Light, appeared to a monk who was undergoing spiritual training in the cave next to the waterfall.
