A memorial hall dedicated to the virtues of morality and peace

Chiune Sugihara is a man who saved the lives of roughly 6,000 Jewish refugees, during the Second World War, by directly disobeying orders and issuing transit visas that would allow them to flee the country.

Mr. Sugihara was very skilled diplomat of remarkable compassion whose empathy extended far beyond any nation's borders, and who in the extraordinary circumstances forced upon the world by the genocide of Jews during the Second World War, placed humanity before duty and chose to do what he believed was right.

Take a moment to learn about the life of Mr. Sugihara in this museum, dedicated to his memory, which stands amidst the thriving nature of the prefecture he was born in.
