Built in 1526 by Toyama Masatoshi, Naegi Castle officially turns 500 years old this year!

Naegi Castle Ruins

Perched atop a rugged mountainside, these striking ruins make for a spectacular picture and are well deserving of their place on the Continued Top 100 Japanese Castles list.

After a 30-minute hike up the hillside from the Naegi bus stop, visitors are rewarded not only with the immense boulders that form the castle walls, but also with the breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area from the summit.
