Catch the Amazing Spring Takayama Festival and Cherry Blossoms!

While Mino will be living it up with their beautifully pink hanamikoshi, Takayama in North Gifu will be celebrating the Takayama Spring Festival on April 14th & 15th (Sun and Mon) in style too, with their elaborate and exquisite floats showcasing the superb craftsmanship of the area.

The Takayama Festival is considered to be one of Japan’s Three Most Beautiful Festivals and was designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016. The festival is held twice a year (in spring and autumn) and is famous for its beautiful yatai festival floats, which are decorated at night with paper lanterns creating a very magical atmosphere!

No worries if you can’t catch it this year – the dates stay the same every year so you can sure it’ll be held on April 14th & 15th!
