The Subzero Forest (“Hyotenka no Mori” in Japanese) awaits your visit! This exclusive wintertime event is held at Akigami Onsen, a Japanese ryokan in the southern Takayama district of Asahi. The icy wonderland reflects blue during the day but shines bright at night in an array of shades, enchanting visitors since 1971 with dazzling sceneries of ice amidst colourful lights.
This amazing display is held annually from the start of January to the end of February, so there’s always next year’s awaiting if you can’t make it this year!
