Tsukimi no Mori, meaning “moon-viewing forest” in English, is a nature park that is beautifully maintained as a Residential Environment Preservation Forest of Gifu Prefecture.
The park’s 37.5ha is the perfect place to see the beauty of seasonal flowers and listen to the tweeting of wild birds. In addition to the natural flora, over 10,000 hydrangea and cherry blossoms have been planted within park boundaries. (Cherry blossoms normally bloom from late March to early April, while hydrangea are normally best seen in June)
Visitors will find a collection of nature trails that make it possible to explore the beautiful nature while getting some exercise.
Looking for a great view? Climb the 258 steps of the Stairway to the Moon for a lookout deck with a panoramic view of Nobi Plains during the day, and a fantastic night view that’s designated as one of Japan’s Top 100 Moons during the night.
After exploring the park, stop at Suisho no Yu (located within the park) for some relaxing hot-spring baths that offer a panoramic view!
