Congratulations to Watanabe (Hida City) and Tenryou (Gero) Sake Breweries for getting top awards in the 2020 International Wine Challenge!
The International Wine Challenge, held annually in London, is respected as one of the world’s top blind wine tasting competition and with the Sake competition added in 2006, it’s become one of the best places for sake breweries to test and showcase their best sake against other breweries – both in Japan and around the world.
This year there were 1,401 entries for 9 different categories with the top entries for each category being awarded with Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medals.
This year 4 Gifu sake brands were awarded with Gold Medals!
Out of all the Gold Medals given, 88 were given this year, nine are awarded with a Trophy and are considered the winning sake for that respective category.
Two Gifu sake brands were given a Trophy; congratulations!

- Hourai Junmai Ginjo Kadentezukuri by Watanabe Sake Brewery (Junmai Ginjo Gold Medal)
- Junmai Daiginjo Tenryo Hairoku by Tenryou Sake Brewing (Junmai Daiginjo Gold Medal)
