Each year, Seki celebrates its ancient swordsmithing tradition by hosting its famous Seki Cutlery Festival and you don’t want to miss it!
Seki-made blades, like the katana, are said to be “unbreakable, unbendable, and extremely sharp” and word of this spread to samurai all over Japan since the 15th century! This tradition and superior craftsmanship has been passed down for hundreds of years. While the demand for swords is limited in the modern day, Seki remains a leading producer of knives and other utensils, utilizing the same masterful techniques from long ago.
Seki truly is the best place to learn more about Japan’s swordsmithing culture (and catch a great deal on high-quality knives). There’s so much going on during this festival to keep you busy! Make sure to check out some of these highlights:
