The double-decker cable car will take you to the world above the clouds, 2,156m above sea level. From the Observation Deck at the top of the mountain, you can take in a grand panoramic view of the Northern Japan Alps. During a designated period in autumn, Shinhotaka ropeway operating hours are extended so that visitors can gaze upon the mesmerizing sunset scenery from above the clouds, a truly wonderful sight.
In the wintertime, the Sengokuenchi Nature Park at the top of the mountain becomes a "snow corridor," with paths surrounded on boths sides by three-meter-high giant snow walls! The entire area is painted white and takes on an air of mystery that should not be missed!
Nearby the first station (of two), there is a beautiful walking trail where you can connect with nature. Each season offers something different, from alpine flora and flowers to vivid autumn foliage.
