Don’t miss out on one of Japan’s most iconic cultural events, the Gujo Odori Dance Festival in Gifu!

Gujo Odori is part of the Obon dance tradition and has taken place for over 400 years! It originally began as a way for the whole town to come together, regardless of social class. Today, it’s even recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage!

The festival runs for 30 nights, from mid-July to early September, including four nights of all- night “Tetsuya Odori” dancing.

This is not just a dance to watch, but a dance to join in on! You can jump right into the dance circle by following the movements of the people around you! No experience needed, but you can also attend classes beforehand if you’d like.

2026 Gujo Dance Festival Period: July 11th – 5th September (All-night dance Aug. 13th-16th)

⚠️ Times and venues vary daily! Please check the official schedule below for specific details.
