The breathtaking fairytale village of Shirakawa-go in Gifu Prefecture has earned one of the top spots in Forbes’ list and what an honour it is!

With Spring comes the arrival of the Cherry Blossoms! 
Nestled in the mountains, summer turns the village green with rice paddies thriving alongside the traditional homes. 
In Autumn, the village turns to hues of orange as the leaves change colour. 
The village becomes blanketed in thick white snow each year in Winter.

- Travel by bus in winter —roads can be dangerous in colder weather, and buses are the safest way to reach the village.
- Refrain from smoking —these historic houses are highly flammable!
- Leave no trace—take your rubbish back home with you!
- Respect the privacy of the local residents— people still live in the charming homes! When taking pictures and exploring, be careful to not enter private property.
