A temple nestled in the mountains of Gifu with over 1,000 years of history.

Inside its halls stands a sacred statue of Kannon Bodhisattva, adorned with a sash tied around the abdomen. This statue is believed to bring blessings related to children, making the temple a cherished destination for those praying for fertility, safe childbirth, and the healthy upbringing of children.

This temple is also renowned for its impressive 5-meter-tall statue of seated Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism and the inspiration behind daruma dolls. Daruma are round dolls that symbolize perseverance and are often used for goal-setting. Darumas are usually bought with blank eyes; one eye is filled in when setting a goal, and the other upon achieving it.

In January, the temple holds the Daruma Memorial Festival, a breathtaking event where thousands of daruma dolls, who have already had their goals fulfilled, are ceremonially burned in a great fire.
In August, the temple celebrates their annual Summer Lantern Festival. The main hall becomes illuminated with candlelight, a tradition that brings not only good fortune, but also strengthens connections with loved ones.
