Winter illumination at Ogimachi Village for six days – an event not to be missed!
Preparations are set for this exciting event where you can see the famous gassho-zukuri-style farmhouses of UNESCO World Heritage Site Shirakawa-go glowing gently against the backdrop of a snowy landscape, looking like a magical scene straight out of a fairytale.
Due to its popularity, there are rules and regulations in place to ensure the safety of visitors and the villagers that live there, in order for it to be a positive experience for everyone.
Please note that there may be a minor increase in traffic volume in the area and increased demand on parking during the event. Reservations are required to visit the Shirakawa-go Light-up Event.

Please keep in mind applications are still accepted until October 31st (Tuesday). Winners will be decided by lottery and not by a first-com, first-served basis. Winners will be notified by the 10th of November (Friday).
