Spend an elegant day floating on the waters of Ogaki, the "Water Capital"

According to the legend "The Tale of Oan," after the famous Battle of Sekigahara was lost, a daughter of one of the retainers of the losing commander stole away from Ogaki Castle in a washbin in the dark of night to escape the encroaching enemy forces. The Tarai Boat River Cruise simulates that journey, creating an extremely unique experience; when else will you find yourself floating downriver in a washtub?!

Another part of the appeal of this experience is the time of year when it takes place: late March. In other words...cherry blossoms! Floating down the tranquil river at a leisurely pace while taking in the beauty of the cherry trees lining the river is an experience that cannot be beat, so take some time out of your day when you come to Gifu and take a ride atop the clear waters of Ogaki!

The activity is conducted using regular boats during periods in which the cherry blossoms can be seen, with washtubs only able to be ridden during the "green season" that occurs immediately after the cherry blossoms have disappeared for the year.
