The actual floats used during the Takayama Festival held in autumn are kept on display here, allowing you to enjoy part of the festival all year round!

The Takayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall, located on the grounds of Sakurayama Hachiman Shrine, is home to the 11 floats (designated as Important Tangible Cultural Assets by the Japanese government) that are put on parade for the Takayama Autumn Festival (October 9, 10) and are rotated out three times a year.

The two festivals that happen in Takayama in the spring and fall are actually completely different, happening in different areas of the city and featuring completely different sets of floats. The spring festival is conducted by the Hie Shrine, with autumn hosted by the Sakurayama Hachiman Shrine.
